It serves entirely as a playing aid for those participating in my games.<\/p>\n<p>As is immediately obvious to anyone who has played AD&amp;D, I must give credit to TSR&#8217;s <em><strong>Advanced Dungeons and Dragons<\/strong><\/em> (First Edition) for the basic structure of the game.\u00a0 Along with WOTC&#8217;s 3rd edition. And <em><strong>Advanced Dungeons and Dragons<\/strong><\/em> 3.5 and the D20 variants for many modification ideas.\u00a0 Also, TSR&#8217;s <em><strong>Boot Hill <\/strong><\/em>for some equipment lists and Trent Foster&#8217;s <em><strong>Advanced Dungeons &amp; Dragons Companion<\/strong><\/em>, <span style=\"font-family: Liberation Serif, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">A Collection of House Rules and Expansions. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Additionally I must credit <em>Steve Jackson&#8217;s<strong> G.U.R.P.S.<\/strong>\u00a0 Generic Universal Role Playing System<\/em> (1st through 3rd) for many of the ideas regarding timing, skills and skill points.\u00a0 Along with <em><strong>G.U.R.P.S. Deadlands<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Weird West<\/strong><\/em>, primarily for weapon and equipment lists and ideas.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Living Death Campaign Sourcebook <\/strong><\/em>A d20 Adaptation of the Masque of the Red Death rules based on D&amp;D version 3.5 by<em> Claire Hoffman <\/em>was of great help in working out much of the gun fight and explosive rules.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Call of Cthulhu <\/strong>particularly <em><strong>London 1- An Investigator&#8217;s Guide to London<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>London 2- A Keeper&#8217;s Guide to London <\/strong><\/em>along with Chaosium&#8217;s <strong><em>The Gaslight Equipment Catalogue.\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong>Which were essential for information on money, equipment and pricing.\u00a0 I have tried to edit out anything that did not exist prior to 1890 (the year the game starts.)\u00a0 And of course, <strong>Call of Cthulhu<\/strong><em><strong><em>:<\/em> Cthulhu by Gaslight: Horror Roleplaying in 1890s England<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>1879 Role Playing Game, Player&#8217;s Guide, 1879 Role Playing Game, Gamemaster&#8217;s Guide, 1879 Role Playing Game, London or the Haunted City<\/strong> <\/em>were a big help in descriptions of places and parts of London.<\/p>\n<p>There have been MANY websites, but of special value has been (as always)<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikipedia.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Wikipedia<\/a>!\u00a0 If you can, please spare a few dollars to donate to this most worthy and valuable non-profit!<\/p>\n<p>Other sites include, (but are not limited to!)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/victorian-era.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Victorian era England &amp; Life of Victorians<\/a> This has been an invaluable site that has scores of pages detailing Victorian life from Class, customs, laws, fashion, food, government, morals and more!\u00a0 I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the period.<\/p>\n<p>I relied heavily on <a href=\"http:\/\/waynesthisandthat.com\/servantwages.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Victorian Domestic Hierarchy and Wages<\/a> for much needed clarification regarding Servants and their lifestyles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.victorianschool.co.uk\/empire.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Victorian School<\/a> gave much insight on the Empire in its totality.\u00a0 Relative size of territories, population, etc.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #660000;\"><span class=\"title\"><a href=\"http:\/\/london1878.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stanford\u2019s Geological Library Map Of London And Its Suburbs 1878<\/a> provided me with a much needed grasp of Where Things Are and travel times.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/mapco.net\/london.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MAPCO Store<\/a> was also invaluable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turnpikes.org.uk\/?LMCL=fdXqk0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Turnpike Roads in England and Wales<\/a> was a great source of information on overland travel in Great Britain.<\/p>\n<p>Another valuable source was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtholyoke.edu\/courses\/rschwart\/rail\/chap1_2.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Railways and Population Change in Industrializing England\u00a0An Introduction to Historical GIS<\/a> for determining population and rail travel within Great Britain.<\/p>\n<p>For assistance in comparing the costs of goods in the UK vs the USA <a href=\"https:\/\/anotherandrosphereblog.blogspot.com\/2013\/03\/how-much-did-things-cost-in-1850s-usa.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Androsphere Blog<\/a> was very useful.<\/p>\n<p>I cannot begin crediting authors and novels without first specifying Sir Arthur Conan Doyle&#8217;s <em><strong>&#8216;Sherlock Holmes&#8217;<\/strong><\/em> series, which I have loved since childhood.
